Pinnacle Entertainment's River City Casino (777 River City Casino, 888-578-7289) broke ground on a $82-million expansion project yesterday that is expected to create 350 new jobs during construction and 100 new jobs after the construction is complete in late 2013, KSDK reported.
The expansion plans include adding a 1,700-car garage parking garage, a 200-room hotel, and a 10,000-square-foot event center to the Lemay casino, which opened in 2010.
River City, which opened in 2010, is one of three Pinnacle casinos in the St. The others are Ameristar St. Charles and Lumiere Place on the St. Louis riverfront.
At the announcement of the expansion in September, St. Louis county executive Charlie Dooley said, 'We have seen good jobs, new infrastructure and a renewed vitality in this area,' Dooley said. 'By delivering on River City's commitment to expand, Pinnacle is demonstrating they are good partners to St. Louis County and good neighbors in Lemay.'
Last week, the St. Louis Business Journal reported that River City Casino had the area's largest revenue jump for casinos in February compared to the same time last year with a revenue of $17.5 million last month, up 19 percent from $14.7 million during February 2011.
Pinnacle Entertainment also owns Lumière Place Casino & Hotels downtown. Between River City and Lumiere Place, Pinnacle says it has invested about $1 billion in the St. Louis area.
